Miami, often referred to as the world’s playground, is a star on the International map of real estate. Brickell’s most famous neighborhood is Brickell Key. Brickell Key’s roots can be traced back to 1896 when Henry Flager created an off-short property of two small islands. Nearly a quarter of a century later, Edward N. Claughton, Sr. a real estate invest purchased the islands and proceeded to develop them into one 44-acre island. However, it wasn’t until the late 1970’s when Swire Properties acquired most of Brickell Key that the island began its transformation into one of the most prestigious island communities in the world. Brickell Key residents need not leave the island with its array of amenities. One of the most recognized builds in Brickell key is the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, which is also home to a luxury spa and award-winning restaurants.
Known as Miami’s central business district, Downtown Miami is also the hub of Miami’s cultural attractions, which includes the Miami Art Museum, Historical Museum of Southern Florida, the Miami City Ballet, the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, and the Miami Children’s Museum. Still, the City’s newest cultural draw is the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. The Arsht Center, as it is often commonly called, is the third-largest performing arts center in the United States. Open since 2006, the Center has three main venues, the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House, the John S. and James L. Night Concert Hall, and the Carnival Studio Theater. The Arsht Center also includes the Parker and Vann Thomson Plaza for the Arts, which links the two main houses across Biscayne Blvd and serves as an amazing outdoor social and performance space.
While Miami clearly has a reputation as an International business hub and global tourism destination, the City also boasts some of the highest-ranked public and private schools in the country. Top-rated public schools include the Design and Architecture High School, MAST Academy, Coral Reef High School, Miami Palmetto Senior High School, and the New World School of the Arts. Several of Miami’s private schools have also earned distinguished recognition including Ransom Everglades, Gulliver Preparatory School, and Miami Country Day School.
